OSD Black T55E Atmos Ready 5.25" Multi-Purpose Height and Surround Speakers for Home Theater, Pair

      SKU: BK-T55E-MKII

Dolby Atmos height channels without cutting into your ceiling. The T55E’s angled baffle fires upward off a flat ceiling and disperses the reflection over the listening area - a 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 layout from a pair of speakers that sit on top of the ones you already own, or mount on the wall. 5.25" carbon fiber woofer, 1" silk soft dome tweeter, sealed cabinet.

      Features:

      • TRUE DOLBY ATMOS HEIGHT, WITHOUT CUTTING THE CEILING: An angled baffle fires the height channel at a flat 8–9 ft ceiling and lets it disperse down over the listening area — a 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 layout with no ceiling cut, no attic run and no landlord conversation.
      • 5.25" CARBON FIBER CONE: A carbon fiber cone is stiffer for its mass than the paper and polypropylene cones usual at this price, so effects and dialogue stay clean after the ceiling bounce has already cost some detail.
      • 1" SILK SOFT DOME TWEETER: A full 1" silk dome, not the half-inch cone or mylar tweeter common in height modules. Overhead effects are mostly high-frequency content, so the tweeter is the part that decides whether the illusion works.
      • SEALED ACOUSTIC SUSPENSION CABINET: A sealed MDF enclosure gives tighter, better-damped bass than a ported box of this size — the control an up-firing speaker needs when its output reaches the listener second-hand.
      • CROSSED OVER AT 2.8 kHz: A single crossover point placed above the woofer’s breakup region and below the tweeter’s excursion limit, so the handover falls where the ear is least likely to hear it.
      • FOUR INSTALLATIONS, ONE SPEAKER: Up-firing Atmos module on top of your towers, on-wall front or rear height, on-wall surround, or a compact stereo pair with a subwoofer. Integrated keyhole brackets are moulded into the back panel.
      • BUILT TO BE HANDLED: Gold-plated binding posts take bare wire or spades and hold their torque, and the pin-mounted perforated metal grille survives installation and cleaning in a way a cloth-on-plastic frame does not.

The OSD Black T55E is a two-way loudspeaker built for the height and effects channels of a Dolby Atmos system. Its baffle is angled so that, sitting on top of a floorstanding or bookshelf speaker, it fires upward into a flat ceiling and disperses the reflection down across the listening area. The result is credible overhead imaging in a room where cutting into the ceiling is not an option.

Behind that baffle is a 5.25" carbon fiber cone woofer and a 1" silk soft dome tweeter, crossed over at 2.8 kHz in a sealed acoustic suspension MDF cabinet. The pair is rated 100–20,000 Hz (−3 dB) at 4 ohms nominal, 89 dB sensitivity (2.83 V / 1 m), and handles 25–100 W with a 107 dB maximum SPL — enough to keep pace with full-size front channels during loud overhead effects rather than compressing first.

Up-firing is the primary use, but it is not the only one. Integrated keyhole brackets on the back panel mount the T55E directly to a wall as a front or rear height speaker or as a surround, tweeter down, 4–6 ft from the floor. The same pair also works as compact stereo monitors alongside a powered or in-wall subwoofer. A system that changes shape does not mean buying new speakers.

The T55E is a 4-ohm load. Most mid-range and higher-end AV receivers drive it without issue; some entry-level receivers specify a 6-ohm minimum, so check your receiver’s manual before connecting. Speakers are sold as a pair and carry a limited lifetime warranty.

      What’s in the Box?

      • Two T55E speakers with perforated metal grilles
      • Rubber feet (not pre-installed)
      • Wall-mounting hardware
      • Owner’s Manual

      Customer Questions & Answers:

Do I need a ceiling speaker for Dolby Atmos, or will these do the job?

      • These do the job in a room with a flat, hard ceiling 8–9 ft high. The T55E sits on top of your front or rear speakers and fires upward; the ceiling reflects that sound down to the listening position. Sloped, vaulted, beamed or acoustically absorbent ceilings scatter the reflection, and a ceiling speaker is the better answer there.

What Atmos layouts can I build with them?

      • One pair gives you 5.1.2 — front height. Two pairs give you 5.1.4, front and rear height. They also work in 5.2.4 and 7.2.2 layouts.

      Will my receiver drive them?

      • The T55E is 4 ohms nominal. Most mid-range and higher-end AV receivers support a 4-ohm load. Some entry-level receivers require a 6-ohm minimum — check the specification page of your receiver manual, and ask your dealer if it is not stated.

Can I mount them on the wall instead?

      • Yes. Integrated keyhole brackets are moulded into the back panel. Mount with the tweeter at the bottom, 4–6 ft from the floor for surrounds; front height speakers can go higher, closer to the ceiling. Fix into a stud where possible, or use anchors rated well above the speaker weight.

Are they sold singly or as a pair?

      • As a pair. One order gives you both speakers of a height or surround channel.

Can I use them as regular stereo speakers?

      • Yes, paired with a subwoofer. The cabinet is sealed and rated from 100 Hz, so a sub covers everything below that.

How do I take the grille off?

      • The grille is pin-mounted. Grip it at opposite edges and pull straight out from the baffle — do not twist it or lever it from one corner. To refit, line the pins up with the sockets and press evenly at each pin until it sits flush.
