The SVC300 is a pure resonance volume control with 300 Watts of optimized sound quality and minimal bass roll-off. The SVC300 features Impedance matching with 1/2X, 4X and 8X settings. The Heavy Duty auto-former design features outstanding sound quality due to high permeability steel utilization in the volume control core. Another upgrade feature, the speaker wire inserts use lock clips and are detachable allowing you to connect to your speakers with ease. Each kit includes White, Bone and Ivory décora style inserts, outer plates and knobs for an easy color match. Note the Volume Control attenuates the sound, it does not add gain, You set the system optimum level with the Volume control at 0, then you have 12 steps of attenuation (where you are turning the volume down) a total of -54 Db with the SVC300. It is also a good idea to turn the room/zone off at the Speaker Selector when not using it for extended periods. Do not depend on turning the volume control down where you hear no sound. This does not turn the zone off.
What Is Impedance Protection? Speakers are specified by impedance, which is a measurement of resistance to alternating current, and a common value for speakers is 8 ohms. When you’re connecting multiple speakers to a receiver or amplifier, you need to stay above the amp’s minimum load requirements because going below the impedance rating can overheat or even damage expensive equipment. The SVC100 allows you to match the impedance with the number of speakers being controlled with the capabilities of your amp. A basic multi-room system will typically have an amplifier/receiver, a speaker selector, four to eight pairs of speakers, and volume controls. Impedance-matching volume controls feature three settings depending on how many speakers you are connecting. For one to two pairs of 8-ohm speakers, the setting is 1/2x; for three or four pairs of 8 ohm speakers, the setting is 4X. Keep in mind that volume controls do not add gain (volume) to your speakers but simply attenuate the volume up or down. During setup, you'll set the source volume to its optimum level, then the volume control turns the sound down to inaudible levels.
